Emergency Services

The Emergency Department (ED) at Community Memorial Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with professional medical and nursing staff.  Community Memorial Hospital has been certified by the State of Nebraska as a Level Four Trauma Center; all physicians and Registered Nurses staffing the ED have received special education in the care of trauma patients, and our multidisciplinary team of professionals work together to provide the best care for patients who have experienced traumatic injuries. CMH works closely with the Level Two Trauma Team at BryanLGH West through Region II of the Nebraska State Trauma System and with several local Emergency Medical Service providers to continually improve the quality of care we provide to trauma patients.

Community Memorial Hospital is proud to provide care with state-of-the-art medical equipment, some of which is not commonly found at many small rural hospitals. The high quality of care we provide is reflected in our ability to see patients quickly and treat all of the illnesses and injuries that present to us. We are especially proud to be here to provide excellent care to our community and are pleased with our ability to keep our patients and families satisfied with the care they receive.

CMH fully implemented the Advanced Practitioner Provider (APP) Hospitalist Program in July 2016.  Ad advanced practitioner is either a Physician Assistant (PA or PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (APRN).  Currently, the program at CMH is staffed with Chad Kelly PA-C, Sheryl McKim PA-C, and Cindy Keckler APRN.  The program has allowed CMH to provide 24/7 coverage of an advanced practitioner allowing patients to continue their care locally in our hospital.  It has improved our emergency room response times, and has allowed our providers more one on one time with patients.  Dr. James Steckelberg and Dr. Zak Tempelmeyer continue to follow patients admitted to the hospital and are assisted by the three APPs staffing the hospital.  The three APPs come from a highly trained background with critical care, trauma, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and surgery experience.
