Cardiopulmonary Services

Respiratory therapy is an allied health field, practicing under physician referral, involved in the assessment and treatment of breathing disorders.  Breathing problems often occur in chronic lung problems such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cystic fibrosis and as a result of various heart conditions.

Community Memorial Hospital has Respiratory Therapists on staff to provide respiratory care services including therapeutic and diagnostic testing for hospital inpatients and outpatients with respiratory disease.

Cardiac Services

  • Electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • 24 hour cardiac monitor
  • 30 day cardiac event recorder

Treadmill or chemical stress tests are performed here at CMH in conjunction with mobile nuclear medicine services from both Nebraska Heart Institute and Bryan Heart.  Stress tests are performed upon provider order and nuclear images are read by a cardiologist.

Additional Services

Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT)

Pulmonary function tests are used to evaluate how well your lungs work.  These tests diagnose various lung disorders, the severity of the problem, and the lungs response to treatment for the disease.  The tests performed allow us to determine how much air your lungs can hold, how quickly you are capable of moving air in and out of your lungs, and how well your lungs remove carbon dioxide from your blood.

Pulmonary function tests are performed upon physician referral and read by a pulmonologist

Sleep Studies

Sleep studies allow doctors to study how much and how well you sleep.  They can determine if you have a sleep disorder and the severity of those problems.

Community Memorial Hospital along with BryanLGH Center for Sleep Medicine work together in order to provide you with the ability to have your sleep study done right here at CMH.

Sleep studies are performed upon physician referral and read by a pulmonologist who specializes in the treatment of sleep disorders.
